A founding member of the world-renowned Los Carpinteros collective, Marco Castillo has created some of the most important work to emerge from Latin America in the past decade.

Castillo made his debut as a solo artist in 2018. His sculptures, installations, films, and works on paper address complex political, cultural, and social changes in post-Revolutionary Cuba, and its impact on individuals and domestic life, examined through the language of architecture and design.

Since 1992, Castillo’s work with the collective has been exhibited and collected by leading museums worldwide, including Museo Reina Sofia, Madrid, Spain; Guggenheim Museum, New York, NY; Museum of Modern Art, New York, NY; Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C.; Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris, France; Los Angeles County Museum of Art, CA; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, TX; Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Vienna, Austria; Victoria and Albert Museum, London, UK; and Tate Modern, London, UK. As a solo artist, Castillo has additionally exhibited at Cranbrook Art Museum, Bloomfield Hills, MI; Wallach Art Gallery at Columbia University, New York, NY; Turun Taidemuseo, Turku, Finland; UTA Artist Space, Los Angeles, CA; and in the 2019 Havana Biennial, Cuba.
