Join Adia Millett in a panel discussion about quilt making as a powerful tools for expression, activism, and storytelling. Moving beyond tradition, quilts can serve as symbols of political dissent and as unexpected diagrams for understanding complex social and personal issues.
Led by artist and educator Sunny A. Smith, the conversation will feature Millett alongside Lorraine-Woodruff Long, and Joe Cunningham, all featured artists in the exhibition Packing and Cracking: The Art of (and Response to) Gerrymandering), along with curator Elaine Y. Yau. Together, these quilt makers, educators, and curators will examine how quilting weaves together diverse aspects of identity, culture, and history, forming a tapestry of connection that spans generations.
