The Whitney Western Art Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West is delighted to announce the acquisition of Deborah Butterfield's Portal, 2023. The sculpture, standing 91 inches tall, 86 long, and 43 wide, subtly evokes the spirit and grace of a horse. While Portal is not the museums first Butterfield, it is the first full-size horse in the collection.
Deborah Butterfield will give an artist talk at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in the summer of 2025 offering insight into her artistic process and the creation of Portal.
