A new textile installation by Adia Millett is now on view in San Francisco's Chase Center. The work was commissioned for the Chase Center's Art Collection, presented by Adobe, as part of The Homegrown Series — a platform to showcase local artists, their communities, and their bodies of work.
Warrior's Portal by Adia Millet stitches together fabrics that represent the diverse array of Bay Area community members. From reflective safety vests, African Dutch wax fabric, Mexican serape fabric, to camouflage fatigues; the color pallet, patterns, and textures suggest strength and vibrancy. The three panels embedded with five abstracted warrior’s jersey circles, invite viewers into an Afro-futuristic-inspired playground.
