Ai Weiwei
Artist Talk & Film Screening

AI Weiwei @ CPH:DOX 2025
Copenhagen, Denmark
March 19 - 30, 2025

CPH:DOX, Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, is one of the largest documentary film festivals in the world. This year, Ai Weiwei participates in multiple in-depth discussions on how his artistic practice intersects with activism in the fight for freedom of speech alongside film screenings of his two newest films.

On March 20 in his talk Art & Human Rights, Ai will share his experiences using art as a tool for social change and reflect on how art can challenge systems that restrict freedom. This event will take place at CPH:DOX’s Social Cinema at Kunsthal Charlottenborg.

On March 21, the world premiere of Ai's latest documentary, Animality, will take place. This film explores the complex relationship between humans and animals. Following the  premiere at Dagmar Teatret, Ai will participate in a talk about the documentary.

Additionally on March 21,  there will be a screening of the documentary Ai Weiwei's Turandot, which follows his production of Puccini’s opera Turandot at the Rome Opera House followed by a conversation with Ai Weiwei and the filmmaker. Here, he uses the opera as a backdrop to address major global issues.
