Museum of memory and textile creation, the Manufacture de Roubaix brings together the work of twenty-one artists from eclectic cultural backgrounds with a theme centered on the mask and its multiple avatars. Artists have explored the different functions of the mask (disguise, covering, erasing, etc.) to better question their identity and invent their own own rituals. Italian artist Maurizio Anzeri exhibits his surrealist-like masked embroidered portraits. His photographs of anonymous subjects are covered with weavings and embroidery that give them a dreamlike preciousness.
