The exhibition opening at the de Young Museum presents more than 100 works by photographer and environmentalist Ansel Adams. Shown alongside Adam’s works are photographers who influenced Adams and contemporary artists with photography that is dependent on the surrounding environments. A direct dialogue comes into view. As Adams’s legacy continues to inspire and provoke, we examine how contemporary artists including Binh Danh, Chris McCaw, Meghann Riepenhoff and Matthew Brandt, envision and preserve the landscapes of Yosemite, San Francisco, the American Southwest and more.
